Riverbank walkway extension to Castlecliff

Year 1 $150,000
Year 2 $50,000

Strolling along the riverbank is a popular pastime for many, and the proposed extension will allow residents and visitors to roam all the way to Castlecliff Beach along the riverbank.

People are rediscovering the beauty of the Whanganui River and the extension will make more of the river easily accessible. So far, the walkway has been extended along the riverside boundary of the industrial land at the end of Bedford Avenue and will ultimately link up with the Castlecliff Fishing Marina.

David Scoullar, Wanganui Tramping Club life member:

"Completing this project will not only enhance walking opportunities in our district but showcase our beautiful river."
