Referendum ’10 is your opportunity to have a real influence on two key policy decisions that could significantly affect the future wellbeing of our community.
The Wanganui District Council resolved to seek your input on these issues by way of referendum.
The issues for Referendum ’10 are outlined on the Topics page. We have provided background to the issues, the reasons for the council’s actions so far and the matters that still need to be decided.
One person, one vote
This year’s referendum is being run in conjunction with the local authority elections. Your Referendum ’10 voting paper will be included in the voting pack for the election.
All Wanganui ratepayers and residents who are on the electoral roll can vote in the referendum. Voting papers for the referendum and 2010 Triennial Election will be delivered to your letterbox from 17 September 2010.
Each issue requires a simple vote YES or NO. You can then return your voting paper to us in the envelope provided. If you spoil your voting paper and need a replacement, contact Customer Services on 349 0001, or email wdc@wanganui.govt.nz. Please note that photocopies will not be accepted.
